Joe Torre, together with his wife Ali, founded Safe At Home in 2002 to end the cycle of domestic violence and abuse through education—and to help create a world where every young person feels safe, supported, and empowered.

To advance this mission, Safe At Home launched its signature program, Margaret’s Place, named in honor of Joe’s mother. Margaret’s Place creates safe spaces within schools that provide trauma-informed clinical intervention, prevention education, and support for students experiencing domestic violence and abuse, as well as for educators, parents, and caregivers. Staffed by master’s-level counselors, the program fosters connection, builds resilience, provides critical resources, empowers positive choices and leadership, and offers hope—while also raising awareness about the impact of violence on individuals and communities.

Today, Safe At Home operates 30 Margaret’s Place programs across New York (8), California (18), Ohio (2), and Tahiti (2), having served more than 425,000 young people, families, schools, and communities since 2002.

Together, we are building a safer, braver world.
